India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a flight test of its quasi-ballistic missile, Pralay, from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast at around 11:10 am on November 5.

According to an official government statement, all the test objectives were fully achieved, as confirmed by data captured by various range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur.

The Pralay missile has been indigenously developed by the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), one of the Development-cum-Production Partners, has manufactured the missile system.

The flight test was conducted in the presence of senior DRDO officials, representatives from the defence industry and the Armed Forces as part of user evaluation trials.

Following the successful test, the induction of the missile system into the armed forces is now imminent, the government statement said.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Defence Forces and industry partners on the successful flight test.

He said the missile, equipped with advanced technologies, would further strengthen India's technological capabilities and enhance the operational preparedness of its armed forces to counter emerging threats.

Defence Secretary, Secretary of the Department of Defence Research and Development, and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh also congratulated the teams involved in the successful flight test.
