Pakistan on Tuesday successfully test-fired its Fatah-2 extended-range (ER) ballistic missile, media reports said.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, the Fatah-2 ER is equipped with advanced navigation systems and state-of-the-art avionics, Dawn News reported.
The missile is “capable of engaging targets with high precision and defeating enemy missile defence systems due to its unique trajectory and manoeuvrability features”, the ISPR statement said.
“With its extended range, the Fatah-2 ER will further enhance the army’s reach and capability to engage deep targets,” it added.
The test launch was witnessed by Army Rocket Force Command (ARFC) chief Lieutenant General Nauman Zakaria, senior army officers, scientists and engineers, according to media reports.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the nation on the successful test.
