Pakistan witnessed a sharp surge in terrorist violence in 2025, with the number of attacks rising by 34 per cent and terrorism-related fatalities increasing by 21 per cent year on year, according to media reports.
A total of 699 terrorist attacks were recorded across the country during the year, The Nation reported.
The violence claimed at least 1,034 lives and left 1,366 people injured.
The findings were detailed in the “Pakistan Security Report 2025,” released on Thursday by the Islamabad-based Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS).
The report attributed the worsening security situation to escalating border violence, a resurgence of militant groups, and evolving militant tactics stretching from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Balochistan, posing a growing and complex security challenge for the country.
