The Israel Defense Forces on Saturday confirmed (October 14, 2023) that two top Hamas commanders, who were involved in the group's cross-border attack last week, have been killed.
IDF identified the two slain commanders of the group as Merad Abu Merad and Ali Qadi.
IDF posted on X: "Ali Qadi led the inhumane, barbaric October 7 massacre of civilians in Israel."
"We just eliminated him. All Hamas terrorists will meet the same fate," read the X post.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, the 37-year-old was one of around 1,000 Palestinian prisoners released in 2011 in exchange for Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier who was captured by Hamas, reported BBC.
Qadi was arrested in 2005 for the kidnap and murder of an Israeli man who was reported to have worked for the Shin Bet internal security agency.
Since this round of attacks between Hamas and Israel began on Saturday (October 7, 2023), Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes against targets in the Gaza Strip.
So far, more than 1,500 Palestinians and more than 1,300 Israelis have been killed, Xinhua reported.
