Around 6000-6500 Pakistani terrorists present in Afghanistan: UNSC report

New York:  A report published by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has claimed that around 6000-6500 Pakistani terrorists are present in Afghanistan at present.

The report said these terrorists pose a threat to both countries.

The report said most of them belong to the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

"The total number of Pakistani foreign terrorists fighters in Afghanistan, posing a threat to both countries, is estimated at between 6000and 6500, most of them with TTP," read the report.

The report said in Afghanistan TTP terror group is led by Amir Noor Wali Mehsud.

He is supported by his deputy Qari Amjad and spokesperson Mohammad Khorasani, it said.

“TTP has claimed responsibility for various high-profile attacks in Pakistan and has facilitated others by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA) and Lahskhar-e-Islam. Many former TTP members have already joined ISIL-K (Islamic State of Iraq and Levant-Khorasan) and member states expect that the group and its various splinter groups will align themselves with ISIL-K,” the report said.
