How did Google’s journey begin?

According to Google’s official website, the company’s story began in 1995 at Stanford University. Larry Page was considering Stanford for graduate school when Sergey Brin, who was a student there, was assigned to show him around.

The two soon began working together on a research project that would eventually lay the foundation for Google.

Over the next few years, Google attracted attention not only from the academic community but also from investors in Silicon Valley. In August 1998, Sun Microsystems co-founder Andy Bechtolsheim wrote Page and Brin a cheque for $100,000, officially marking the birth of Google Inc.

From the very beginning, Google embraced an unconventional approach. The company’s first server was housed in a custom-built case made of Lego, while its first-ever “Doodle” appeared in 1998. It featured a stick figure placed behind the Google logo to inform visitors that the company’s staff was attending the Burning Man Festival.

The company also adopted the famous motto “Don’t be evil”, reflecting its stated commitment to doing things differently.
