Position

Avenir Health, a global health organization that works to enhance social and economic development, is seeking to hire a Data Analyst. The position is for the Track20 Project, which aims to improve global and country monitoring and data use for family planning. Track20 monitors progress of global initiatives, include FP2030 and the Ouagadougou Partnership.

This position is to provide analytical and quantitative support to the newly established FP2030 hub for West and Central Africa. Specifically, this includes, but is not limited to:

• Supporting Hub Activities:
1. Development of country data briefs for use in Hub country engagements
2. Respond to TA requests from countries for data review, analysis, sharing of best practices and dissemination
• Build capacity for data use among the hub and its constituencies, including production of dissemination materials for various audiences (youth, civil society, etc)
• Support cross learning among FP2030 country focal points
• Support the use and dissemination of annual country estimates
1. Help build capacity on methodology for producing annual estimates
2. Create materials and disseminate information about annual estimates to a variety of audiences
• Disseminate and build understanding about findings from Track20 country work
1. Support dissemination from country specific work and help facilitate south to south sharing
2. Policy environment from the National Composite Index for Family Planning (NCIFP)
• Provide requested analysis on relevant topics. Examples include:
o Comparative contributions of the private versus public sector
1. Method trends and sub-national progress
2. Identifying opportunities and barriers to growth
3. Analysis of PPFP during the postpartum period
• Provide technical support towards monitoring country commitments
1. Support to new commitment makers for FP2030
• Review commitments for regional/country-level context
1. Facilitate responses to data queries from Track20 or FP2030 colleagues

Required Qualifications:

• Experience working with family planning data from multiple countries
• At least five years of experience with data use and dissemination to various constituencies
• Strong data analysis skills and familiarity with different data sources relevant for family planning
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• University degree in Public Health, Statistics, or Social Sciences
• Preferred: French language
• Position location: Abuja, Nigeria. This is a local hire.
