PLAY International Senegal

PLAY International is a French NGO founded in 1999 on a conviction: sport is a source of solutions to meet our social challenges. The NGO relies on article 31 of the International Charter of the Rights of the Child (UNICEF, 1989) recognizing children's right to play, an activity essential to the balance of the individual. The main mission of PLAY International is to design and implement education and inclusion projects for children and young people in vulnerable situations, using sports games as an educational tool. The NGO works in particular on issues such as access to and retention in school, gender equality, community reconciliation, health prevention - eating well - moving well - sleeping well - using screens well. , a change of outlook on disability… Since its creation, PLAY International has implemented educational and humanitarian projects in France and abroad in more than 20 countries for the benefit of nearly 1 million children. Today, the association relies on 5 missions in Burundi, Comoros, France, Kosovo and Senegal.

PLAY International is a member of the SOS Group.

Context

PLAY plans to operate several projects in school and out of school to train professionals in innovative pedagogies of education through sport.

The proposed interventions represent an opportunity to revalorize sport as an educational and inclusive base and to go well beyond the sole practice of sport to use sport as a tool for developing skills and raising awareness of societal problems.

Responsibilities and missions

The pedagogical coordinator is responsible for the implementation of pedagogical activities of the PLAY association on different projects. In this sense, he is required to work on the development of educational content, in conjunction with the educational referent based in Paris. He leads training sessions for project beneficiaries (facilitators, teachers, trainers, coaches), and then accompanies partners and trainers to make them autonomous in the dissemination of training.

The workplace is based in Dakar. Travel is to be expected in the areas of operations: in Senegal, regions of Ziguinchor, Louga, Saint-Louis and occasionally outside Senegal in other countries where projects are carried out. Hierarchically attached to the head of mission, he/she ensures functional relations with the partners implementing the activities. He/she works with program coordinators and operational project managers who coordinate projects and activities.

The objectives of the position are:

Objective 1. Contribute to the development of educational content

• Participate in diagnostics to identify needs and define pedagogical levers
• Organize educational co-creation workshops
• Supervise session test sessions
• Drafting of game sheets and session presentation documents for external use
• Participate in monthly pedagogical coordination sessions organized by the PLAY pedagogical referent, to harmonize the association's pedagogical strategy and capitalize on the various missions

Objective 2. Contribute to the organization of activities with the beneficiaries

• Drafting training plans for projects and pedagogical content for training for supervisors (teachers, facilitators, coaches, educators, etc.), trainers of trainers and partners.
• Facilitation or co-facilitation of training for beneficiaries
• Evaluation of training and preparation of training reports
• Monitoring and support of trainees in the field, development of a progression allowing them to increase their skills
• Participation in the evaluation of the program (development of pre/post questionnaires, monitoring of indicators, etc.)
• Capacity building of project managers for the delegation of responsibilities (training, follow-up)
• Continuous capitalization of good practices and lessons learned within its scope

Objective 3. Contribution to the proper functioning of the PLAY mission

• Participation in PLAY team life: internal information meetings, internal training, cross-functional working group
• Possible solicitation on other missions depending on availability and team load plans

Formation

• Training in STAPS / Science of Education / Pedagogical engineering
• At least 3 years of experience in training / animation / sports education
• Mastery of basic knowledge in animation and active pedagogy
• Experience in andragogy

Expertise

• Ability to prepare and lead training
• Ability to design educational materials
• Ability to adapt training and language and attitude to the audience of learners
• Management and evaluation of adult training
• Pedagogical support and reinforcement for teams/partners face-to-face and remotely
• Strong writing skills, spirit of synthesis, organizational skills

Fixed-term contract, local law or French law depending on the profile.
