Job description

We are currently looking for a full-time (40 hours):

AREA MANAGER

In your role as Area Manager, reporting to the Sales Manager, you are responsible for all commercial activities for customers in your area. This area can consist of a regional group of customers based low- and middle-income countries (e.g. ministries of health, central medical stores, local NGOs, IDA distributors). Or the area can comprise of customers based in Europe or the USA (e.g. International NGOs, UN bodies, long term aid & development programs). We are recruiting multiple positions.

You manage these customers, with the focus on sales, execution and exploring potential for new business. You set up and execute a regional sales plan based on IDA’s overall sales strategy. You ensure that sales targets are achieved, and new business opportunities are acted upon. The focus of the Area Manager will be on key customers and countries that are of high importance to IDA’s overall sales strategy. You manage a dedicated Account Executive team to ensure excellent service to the customers.

Your focus is on achieving growth targets and development of assigned accounts. You maintain a close relationship with existing customers and develop relationships with new customers, building a strong client network, by understanding their needs. You work closely with clients like Ministries of Health, NGOs and distributors and agents, and (international) travel to these partners will be part of your job. You manage relationships with all relevant IDA departments and improve internal process efficiency.

As Area Manager, you have regular conversations with key clients and report to them periodically. By closely following market information and competitors’ activities, you provide constructive suggestions to IDA. You build relationships with stakeholders and create partnerships that will allow us to better meet the needs of our customers. Together with your team and IDA colleagues you show ways to achieve our strategic goals.

By taking ownership for the quality of all sales offers, reflecting the requirements of your clients within the boundaries of IDA’s strategy and policies, you are responsible for sustainable financial results by meeting and managing the expectations of your accounts.

Key Responsibilities

As Area Manager you are mainly responsible for:

Developing and managing, and successfully executing your regional sales plan
Managing your team of Account Executives
Understanding your market, customers and stakeholders
Delivering excellent service to our customers according to the agreed service levels, in collaboration with the Sales Operations team and other internal stakeholders

Requirements

Experience

Master’s degree in a relevant field (Bachelor’s degree with relevant working experience will also be considered)
At least 3-5 years of work experience in an international B2B environment
Ability to travel up to 20% of your time
Work experience in aid & development, humanitarian relief, or knowledge of pharmaceuticals and the global health sector is a plus

Excellent negotiation skills and a drive for results
Process oriented approach to achieve effective solutions throughout the organisation
Ability to analyse and interpret data for strategic decision-making
Financial acumen

Language

Fluency in written and spoken English (and preferably a second language, e.g. French)
For this role we are specifically looking for candidates who are allowed to work in the Netherlands.
