Abstract:

to contribute to increasing agriculture productivity in Suriname through concrete investments in infrastructure and management of Irrigation and Drainage (I&D) systems, and actions aimed at improving the quality of the country’s available agriculture statistics. Specifically, the Program aims at: (a) increasing agricultural productivity in I&D areas; (b) improving water management systems and administration within I&D areas; (c) supporting the operations of WBS so as to effectively contribute to the Operations and Management (O&M) of the I&D infrastructure; and (d) improving the reach and quality of agriculture statistics and the corresponding information systems.

The Republic of Suriname has received financing in the amount equivalent to US $30,000,000 from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under the project Sustainable Agriculture Productivity Project. Bidding will be governed by the Inter-American Development Bank’s eligibility rules and procedures.

The main objectives of this project are to contribute to increasing agriculture productivity in

Suriname through concrete investments in infrastructure and management of Irrigation and Drainage (I&D) systems, and actions aimed at improving the quality of the country’s available agriculture statistics. Specifically, the Program aims at: (a) increasing agricultural productivity in I&D areas; (b) improving water management systems and administration within I&D areas; (c) supporting the operations of WBS so as to effectively contribute to the Operations and Management (O&M) of the I&D infrastructure; and (d) improving the reach and quality of agriculture statistics and the corresponding information systems.

Procurement processes of contracts financed by the Inter-American Development Bank will be conducted in accordance with the Policies for Procurement of Goods and Works financed by the Inter-American Development Bank GN 2349-15, and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the policies. Consulting services will be selected and contracted in accordance with the Policies for the Selection and Contracting of Consultants financed by the Inter-American Development Bank GN 2350-15.

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the Inter-American Development Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures, will be published as they become available. For consulting services expected to cost an amount equivalent to US $100.000 or more, a request for expressions of interest contracts will be advertised in UN Development Business and Inter-American Development Bank’s Web Site and, local newspapers where the request for expressions of interest will also be advertised; and if known, the dates of issuance of the specific procurement notices for goods, works, prequalification, and the dates of issuance of requests for expressions of interest for consultants’ contracts shall be given.
