Covid-19: Bangladesh registers 54 deaths, 3,883 new cases within 24 hours Covid-19

Dhaka: The deadly coronavirus has claimed 54 lives- 35 males and 19 females- across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours. The death toll rose to 13,399.

Two among the 54 deceased died at home while the rest breathed their last at hospitals.

An official press release said another 3,883 new cases were reported in between Thursday and Friday, taking the toll to 8,44,970.

The release said that 21,373 samples were collected and 20,882 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The country has so far tested 62,88,539 samples.

Compared to the sample test, the detection rate was 18.59 percent, while the overall detection rate is 13.44 percent.

Meanwhile, the recovery toll rose to 7,78,421 after 1,955 people recovered in the last 24 hours.

Divisional wise, Chittagong division registered 15 deaths, Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions registered 12 deaths each, while eight people died in Khulna division, four people in Barisal division, two people in Sylhet division and one person in Mymensingh division.

Age-wise report showed among the 54 deceased 26 were aged over 60 years. Fifteen people were aged between 51 and 60 years, seven people were aged between 41 and 50 years, five people were aged between 31 and 40 years and one person was aged between 21 to 30 years.
