Covid-19: Bangladesh records 2,252 new cases, 24 deaths within 24 hours Covid-19

Dhaka: In the last 24 hours, 24 more people have succumbed to coronavirus in Bangladesh. Among them, 20 are men and four are women. All of them died at the hospital.

The death toll from the virus rose to 6,772, according to an official press release. 

In the last 24 hours, 15,527 samples were collected and 15,430 samples were tested in 118 laboratories. The total number of sample tests stood at 28,36,441.

It said another 2,252 new patients with the virus were identified. The total number of identified patients in the country stood at 4,73,991.

In the last 24 hours, 2,572 people, including asymptomatic patients, have recovered in different hospitals and homes across the country, including the capital. So far, a total of 3,90,951 patients have recovered.

Compared to the sample test in the last 24 hours, the detection rate is 14.59 percent. The overall detection rate is 16.71 percent, the recovery rate is 82.48 percent and the death rate is 1.43 percent.

The first case of coronavirus infection in the country was identified on March 8. The first death from the virus occurred on March 18.

Among the deceased, 5,184 (76.55 percent) are males and 1,588 (23.45 percent) are females.

Of the 24 deaths in the last 24 hours, 14 were in Dhaka division, three in Mymensingh, two each in Chittagong and Barisal, and one each in Rajshahi, Sylhet and Rangpur.
