Afghanistan: UN envoy praises international troops after deadly attack
New York, Aug 6 (JEN)A “tragedy” is how the top United Nations official in Afghanistan summed up an attack on international forces on Tuesday outside of Kabul in which a man wearing an Afghan military uniform reportedly gunned down at least 15 troops, including a high-ranking officer.

“International forces continue to perform a critical role in Afghanistan’s security and are providing critical training for the country’s future and stability,” said the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

According to media reports, the attacker wore an Afghan army military uniform when he opened fire inside a military academy. Among those hit was an Afghan commander.
