The discovery was made on Sunday by two men along a quiet road near Oallen, a small village located approximately 230 kilometers southwest of Sydney in the Hume Police District near Goulburn.

Believing they had uncovered human remains, members of the public alerted authorities.

Officers from the Hume Police District arrived at the scene and secured the bag, noting that the contents appeared to resemble the body of a female.

Forensic officers initially assessed the scene before sending the sealed bag to the Forensic Medicine laboratory for comprehensive testing.

In a statement released on Monday, New South Wales Police confirmed that the investigation had concluded following the laboratory's findings.

"Following forensic examinations this morning, police confirmed the item located in the bag was a lifelike doll, wearing clothing, with hair and a nose piercing," a police spokesperson stated. Authorities added that the doll also featured surface markings that closely resembled natural bruises and grazes, contributing to the initial misidentification.

With the confirmation that no foul play or loss of life occurred, New South Wales Police announced that the case is now officially closed.
