Viral Video: Pakistan's Deputy PM Ishaq Dar slips, falls while greeting Egyptian Minister in Islamabad

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar faced an embarrassing moment on Sunday after he slipped and briefly lost his balance on the red carpet while welcoming Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in Islamabad.

A video of the incident has since gone viral, showing Dar stumbling and falling to the ground during the formal reception.

He was quickly assisted by security personnel present at the venue.

Later, his son, Ali Dar, confirmed that the minister sustained a hairline fracture. In a post on X, he said Dar continued to attend all scheduled high-level meetings despite the injury.

“Ishaq Dar sahib, despite sustaining an injury during the reception of the Egyptian Foreign Minister today, completed all highly important meetings throughout the day on painkillers, Alhamdulillah, in the best possible manner,” he said.

Providing a medical update, Ali Dar added that X-rays were largely normal, though a hairline fracture in the shoulder was detected. He noted that the injury would be managed with medication and precautionary measures over the coming days.

The incident took place during a quadrilateral meeting in Islamabad involving the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, where discussions focused on easing tensions in the Middle East.

According to media reports, Pakistan, along with Türkiye and Egypt, is attempting to bring the United States and Iran to the negotiating table, although no breakthrough has been achieved so far.
