At least four Il-76 planes were damaged in a drone attack at an airport in the northwestern Russian city of Pskov on Wednesday.

Governor Mikhail Vedernikov wrote on Telegram as quoted by Telegram: "The defence ministry’s forces are repelling a drone attack on an airport in Pskov."

"I arrived at the site at the very start of the incident. According to preliminary information, there have been no casualties. The scope of damage is now being assessed," Vedernikov said.

Emergencies services told TASS that four Il-76 planes were damaged at a military airport in Pskov, a city located more than 600km away from Ukraine.

The city is located close to the Estonia border.

"As a result of a drone attack, four Il-76 planes were damaged. A fire broke out. Two aircraft are engulfed in flames," an emergency service official told TASS.

Flight movements above the Pskov Region have been restricted.

Ukraine has not commented on its involvement in the attack so far.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry said a Ukrainian drone was staged above Moscow city on Wednesday.

"At around 3:30 a.m. Moscow time today, the Kiev government’s attempt to attack facilities in Russia with a fixed-wing drone was thwarted. The drone was intercepted and crashed on the territory of the Ruzsky municipal district in the Moscow Region [west of the Russian capital]," the ministry was quoted as saying by TASS.
