Kabul/JEN: The Taliban forces carried out a raid at a suspected hideout of an Islamic State (IS) affiliate in the Afghan capital and killed several 'insurgents', hours after 'a number of civilians' had been killed in an explosion outside a mosque in Kabul, a Taliban spokesperson said on Monday.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that a special operation group of the Talib forces had raided and destroyed a suspected IS centre in the northern Kabul neighborhood of Khair Khana on Sunday night.
"Last night, a special unit of the Islamic Emirate carried out an operation against IS insurgents in the 7th district of Kabul," Zabihullah Mujahid said.

"The operation, which was very successful and decisive, resulted in the complete destruction of the center and the death of ISIS insurgents,'' Mujahid added. "
Mujahid did not disclose in the statement how many IS insurgents had been killed and whether there was any casualty in the Taliban in the overnight operation.
Earlier on Sunday evening, the Taliban spokesperson said that 'a number of civilians' had been killed after an explosion ripped through a crowd outside the entrance of Eid Gah mosque in central Kabul.

Though no claim of responsibility for the deadly bomb blast has been made yet, suspicion quickly fell on the Islamic State group as the terror outfit had carried out multiple suicide attacks in Afghanistan since its enemy, the Taliban, had taken over Kabul in mid-August.
