Naypyitaw: A day after at least 21 people were reportedly killed in Myanmar's Yangon city, the country's military has extended martial law in several districts.
Sunday's clash has been termed as the deadliest since the February 1 coup.
On Monday, the country's ousted civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi is due to appear in court, facing several charges.
After the Suu Kyi-led National League for Democracy (NLD) won the elections by a huge margin, the Army carried out the bloodless coup, citing major voter fraud.
The Army, however, is yet to provide any proof.
On Sunday, martial law was imposed in two districts of Yangon after Chinese businesses were attacked, according to a BBC report.
It has been extended on Monday, reports added.
According to the Assistance Association of Political Prisoners, an independent non-profit organisation founded by Burmese former political prisoners living in exile, at least 120 protesters have reportedly been killed since the coup. It also said that Sunday's clash killed 38 protesters.
According to reports, Suu Kyi is facing charges of flouting Covid rules and illegal possession of radio equipment. If found guilty, it might bar her from contesting polls in the future.
In a recent allegation against the former de facto leader of the state, the military has accused her of accepting bribes.
According to the military, Suu Kyi had accepted $600,000 and 11kg of gold. The charges have been denied by the NLD.
