Kabul: Sounding alert, a government official in Afghanistan's Faryab province has said that Bilchiragh district has been taken over by the Taliban militants.
The official was quoted as saying by local Tolo News that the district was seized by Taliban after enduring hours of clash with the country's forces.
Abdul Samad Grezwani, the district governor of Gerzwan district in Faryab, which shares border with the fallen district, said that the former is on the verge of being overtaken by the Taliban.
"The clashes have reached close to this [Grezwan] district,” the district governor was quoted as saying by Tolo News.
“The district will fall to the Taliban if security forces do not pay attention to the situation,” he added.
Taliban too has released a statement, saying that they have captured Bilchiragh.
