Washington/UNI: The number of coronavirus cases confirmed globally has surpassed 300 million mark as the Omicron variant continues to spread rapidly setting new infection records in several countries.
There are 302,910,416 number of total cases and the global death toll stands at 5,478,995, according to Johns Hopkins University's Coronavirus Resource Center's data on Saturday.
As new cases continue to be registered worldwide, countries have unveiled new policies.
In Germany, the the government and leaders of the 16 federal states on Friday said only people who have received their third, or booster dose, would be allowed into bars, restaurants and some other indoor venues, while those who had been fully vaccinated without a booster would have to also show a negative test, The Wall Street Journal reported.
In France, the Senate would vote next week on a bill to stop the unvaccinated from entering restaurants, cafes and other public places.
As per the Johns Hopkins data, till now 9,374,034,393 people have received vaccination against Covid-19 globally.
