Hanoi Summit: US President Donald Trump, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un meet, shake hands

Hanoi: In a major move, US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have begun their second summit in Vietnam city Hanoi on Wednesday.

They had earlier met in June last year.

The meeting was held in Singapore.

At the start of the latest meeting, Trump and Kim shook hands infront of the media.

As per BBC report, the pair shook hands for the media before heading to talks and dinner at the five-star Metropole hotel. They are expected to discuss a roadmap for ridding the Korean peninsula of nuclear weapons in two days of talks.

The White House shared several images of the two leaders as they sat on the dinner table at the start of the summit which will take place till Sept 28.

"Happening Now: President Donald J. Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un at dinner in Hanoi," The White House tweeted.

Trump had earlier tweeted on North Korea and its possibility of progressing economically in case they followed the path of denuclearization.

"Vietnam is thriving like few places on earth. North Korea would be the same, and very quickly, if it would denuclearize. The potential is AWESOME, a great opportunity, like almost none other in history, for my friend Kim Jong Un. We will know fairly soon - Very Interesting!," Trump tweeted.

Kim and Trump earlier held talks with the top leader of Vietnam.
