Pakistan A minor girl was sexually assaulted in Pakistan's Wanda Mirwali Surband area on Monday, an incident reflecting the atrocities faced by girls in the nation.
Police told Dawn News that the nine-year-old girl was assaulted inside the boundary wall around a drinking water tube-well.
Minor suspect arrested
Police said the key suspect behind the crime, who is a minor, has been arrested.
Allegations
The girl alleged that she had gone to the water tank located beside the tube-well to fetch water for drinking purposes when the suspect, identified as Tanveer, came out of the house and forcibly took her to his home, where he sexually assaulted her.
The girl informed the police that she yelled, but no one came to rescue her.
The girl said she broke free and escaped to her house and informed her mother about the ordeal.
Police said that after registering a case under Section 376 (Punishment for Rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 53 (Sexual abuse against Children) of the Child Protection and Welfare Act in Lakki city police station, they arrested the 14-year-old suspect in a raid.
“The arrested alleged assaulter has been shifted to the police station for interrogation,” police told Dawn News.
