Donald Trump has warned of decisive military action against Iran if Tehran fails to reach an agreement before a deadline tied to reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Trump said, according to CNN, that the United States could “take out” Iran in a single night.

“The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night,” he said.

He further warned that key Iranian infrastructure—including bridges and power plants—could be targeted if Tehran does not comply or move to reopen the crucial energy route.

Trump has reportedly set a deadline of Tuesday, 8 pm (Eastern Time) for Iran to accept the proposed deal.

Iran rejects ceasefire proposal

Meanwhile, Iran has rejected a US-backed ceasefire proposal, instead submitting a detailed 10-point response through Islamic Republic News Agency.

According to IRNA, Tehran has dismissed the idea of a temporary ceasefire and is instead calling for a permanent end to the conflict. The proposal includes demands for a complete cessation of hostilities, guarantees for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, lifting of sanctions, and commitments toward post-war reconstruction.

Iran conveyed its position to Washington via Pakistan on Monday.

Conflict continues amid diplomatic strain

The developments highlight a widening divide between Washington’s push for a temporary ceasefire and Tehran’s insistence on a comprehensive resolution.

While diplomatic channels remain open, the sharp rhetoric and conflicting demands underscore the fragile state of ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.
