UK: Woman, three children die in London house fire London House Fire

A 43-year-old woman and three children died after a fire broke out at a house in Brent borough in London on Saturday, police said.

"Met officers were called to assist the London Fire Brigade at the fire in Tillett Close, Stonebridge, at 01:22hrs on Saturday, 24 May," Met Police said in a statement.

Apart from the women, the three children, who died in the fire, were identified as a15-year-old girl, an eight-year-old boy, and a four-year-old boy.

Police said they died at the scene.

"Their next-of-kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time," the police said.

"A further two people – a woman in her 70s and a teenage girl – were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

"We await an update on their conditions," police said.

One Person Arrested

Police said a 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and remains in custody.

Superintendent Steve Allen, from the Met's local policing team in north-west London, said: "This is an extremely tragic incident and our thoughts are with everyone involved."

"Officers arrested a man at the scene and we continue to work alongside investigators from the London Fire Brigade to establish the cause of the fire. Emergency services will remain in Tillett Close throughout the day as these enquiries take place," Allen said.

London Mayor Reacts

London Mayor Sadiq Khan described the fire tragedy as 'devastating'.

"This is devastating news and my thoughts are with the family, friends and wider community of the four people who sadly have lost their lives," he wrote on X.

"I remain in close contact with the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police as they work to establish the cause of the fire and offer support to all those impacted," Khan said.

Dawn Butler, MP for Brent East, posted on X: "Devastated to see the fatal fire at homes in Tillet Close last night."
