Tokyo: Three individuals were injured on Sunday during a stabbing incident on a train in Japan's western prefecture of Osaka, according to local authorities.
Local police quickly arrested the male perpetrator on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder, who later confessed to the stabbing.
According to the police, the stabbing was reported by a staff member at Rinku-Town Station at around 10:25 a.m. local time. It is believed that the attack happened while the train was in motion.
The injured were a male passenger in his 20s, another in his 70s, and a male train conductor in his 20s.
All three were taken to the hospital, their injuries not life-threatening, according to authorities.
Kazuya Shimizu, the 37-year-old perpetrator, was found carrying three knives when taken into custody on the station platform.
The station where the incident took place is situated near a large shopping mall and a hospital in Izumisano, Osaka prefecture.
