African GBV Observatory hosted by Coastal Resources Centre South Africa and supported by Citizens Network Africa, seeks two Researchers to contribute to data collection efforts and analysis for an upcoming campaign focused on gender-based violence in Africa. This position is fully remote, suiting recent graduates seeking exposure and consolidated experience in GBV Research. Using disaggregated data collection, analysis, and mapping, the post-holders will team up with other volunteers to conduct analysis which describe, explore, and assess program interventions addressing GBV in Africa. The African GBV Observatory makes both data and analysis open and freely available. There is a possibility to convert this role into a paid position.
Specific roles and responsibility:
• Provide expertise on qualitative and quantitative data collection methods.
• Contribution to oversight of methodology as needed.
• Identifying useful sources of information with access to local volunteer sources spread across Africa.
• Identifying and liaising new partnerships to help further expand the GBV Observatory as required.
• Actively seek collaboration with other gender and violence researchers or institutions.
• Source available research resources to expand offerings of the GBV Observatory.
• Write articles, blogs and reports for wide dissemination.
• Participate and/or make presentations of preliminary findings in online discussions and platforms.
• Provide monthly country updates for assigned areas in collaboration with country-based volunteers.
• Represent the Observatory at relevant platforms where requested.
Qualifications
• A post-graduate degree in a relevant subject and experience in research on gender issues.
Essential
• Knowledge of research approaches and methodologies in gender, violence, development and human rights.
• Able to handle a large volume of work under pressure and with deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communications skills.
• Strong writing and editing, critical thinking and analysis skills.
• Experience creating and disseminating communications across various medium.
Other
Familiarity with data analysis and visualization software
Access to a computer, a reliable internet connection, email, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
