We are looking for a new colleague to join our Green and Digital Transformation team with the following experience, skills and character:

• Sound knowledge and understanding of the technological advances and innovations needed to improve local environmental quality and enhance climate action.
• Familiar with concepts on digital technology applications – cloud computing, IoT, 5G, big data analytics, machine and deep learning, data analytics and AI
• Relevant academic degree and ideally postgraduate qualification in environmental technologies, smart technologies, smart cities, green technologies and/or other digital sustainability-related field
• At least 3 years of professional experience working in a project-based environment, ideally for and with local governments or other urban actors related to ICT and digital technologies for enhanced environmental and climate action
• Proficient in English and at least one other European language, spoken and written; more languages are an asset
• Confident in communicating, interacting and collaborating with a wide range of pa rtners across disciplines and sectors

Your position will include the following main tasks:

• Designing and implementing collaborative projects related to environmental, climate and smart technology use in cities
• Developing frameworks and strategies, integrating and collating different ICT solutions in various urban domains (e.g. pollution control, smart buildings, energy, transport, water, waste management, etc.)
• Supporting the identification and development of impact assessment frameworks and indicators for technology driven environmental and climate action projects in line with international standards and methodologies
• Conducting research, analysis and proposing recommendations related to data-driven and digital technologies for environment and climate action in cities
• Designing and delivering capacity building and awareness raising programmes with cities in the fields of data-driven environmental and climate action, digital and green technologies, etc.

We offer you the following conditions:

• Initial 24 months contract with high potential for extension
• Gross salary according to the Expert position in ICLEI’s salary grid (indicative: EUR 43.200 – 46.800 per annum)
• Place of work: Freiburg/Germany
• 40h working week with flexible working time and the possibility to work up to 50% remote
• 6 weeks of paid leave per annum
• Working language is English
• Occasional travel within Europe is foreseen
