LAW is an independent, non-profit organisation comprised of human rights lawyers working in fragile and conflict affected areas in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. We have a particular focus on gender equality and sexual and gender-based violence, natural resource exploitation, rule of law and accountability, and transformative justice, working to bring justice to those who need it most.

Description

The ideal candidate would have experience in gathering statistical and qualitative data on human rights violations in conflict affected contexts and in compiling and drafting complex analytic reports for the consumption of wide range of audiences including, civil society, the UN, and the diplomatic community.

Function/ Key Deliverables

The Consultant will perform activities in accordance with the deliverables set out below:

• Draft the study methodology and design the coding, interview records and any relevant analysis tools and frameworks.
• Develop the research questions, in close collaboration with LAW country
• Conduct interviews, key informant interviews and focus group discussions in accordance with the methodology agreed upon with LAW country
• Compile and safely store the data obtained.
• Provide an analysis of the preliminary results by November, and of the full report by December

Qualifications, experience and skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in gathering statistical and qualitative data on human rights violations in conflict affected contexts;
• Experience in compiling and drafting complex analytic report for the consumption of wide range of audiences including, civil society, the UN, and the diplomatic community;
• Knowledge of trauma informed approaches;
• Experience working in an international or major national non-governmental organisations operating in complex environments, preferably in management and field positions;
• Published work reporting, summarizing or collating empirical research;
• Experience working with Myanmar human rights, conflict and humanitarian affairs is highly proffered;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong technical literacy.
