Former Pakistan PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi tests COVID-19 positive

Islamabad:  Former prime minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has tested positive for COVID-19, media reports said.

According to family sources, the former prime minister was tested yesterday for the virus, the result of which were obtained today, reports Geo News.

Sources told the news channel the PML-N leader is isolating at his residence.

Punjab government spokesperson Musarrat Cheema wished him speedy recovery and posted: " Political differences aside, we pray for a quick recovery of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. This is a difficult time for everyone and only following on safety guidelines can ensure our safety."

 Pakistan nationwide tally of Coronavirus cases stood at 103,671 on Monday, 16th highest in the world, while the death toll has risen to 2,067.

The most affected are Punjab province with 38,903 cases, followed by 38,108 in Sindh, 13,487 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 6,516 in Balochistan, 932 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 5,329 in Islamabad and 396 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, The Express Tribune reported.

The toll has risen to 2,067 with 65 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, around 34,355 coronavirus patients have recovered.
