Ankara/Xinhua: Two Turkish soldiers were killed and five others wounded in Idlib province of Syria, Turkey's ministry of defense said on Thursday.
"As a result of an air attack on our elements in the Idlib region, which were deployed to provide a cease-fire, 2 of our hero gunmen were martyred and 5 of our hero gunmen were injured," said the ministry in a written statement.
The Turkish army responded to the determined targets and continues firing, the ministry said noting that more than 50 Syrian government members were killed in retaliation fire.
"According to the latest information from various sources in the Idlib region, it has been learned that more than 50 regime elements, 5 tanks, 2 armored personnel carriers, 2 armed pickups, 1 howitzer were destroyed," said the statement.
In the past two weeks, Turkey claimed that Syrian government attacks killed 13 personnel of the Turkish army in Idlib.
