19 killed in Tunis attack
Tunis, Mar 18 (JEN): At least 19 people were killed as gunmen attacked Bardo Museum in Tunisia's Tunis city on Wednesday, media reports said.

The deceased included 17 tourists, reports said.

Italian, Spanish, Polish and German citizens were among those killed, as well as a Tunisian and a police officer, country PM Habib Essid was quoted as saying by BBC.

According to reports, two gunmen have been killed by security forces.

The Parliament, which is located close to the museum, has been evacuated after the attack.

The museum is known to have major collection of Roman mosaics and other antiquities of interest from Ancient Greece, Tunisia among others.

Condemning the attack, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: "Attack in Tunisia is appalling & condemnable. We stand firmly with the people of Tunisia in this hour of grief & pray normalcy returns soon."
