At least six people died after tornadoes and severe storms ripped through Tennessee state in the USA on Saturday.

The tornadoes reduced buildings into rubbles and crew members are still searching for survivors and surveying the extent of damage caused due to extreme weather.

At least three people died, including a child, after an apparent tornado struck the Clarksville area of Montgomery County in northern Tennessee, officials told CNN.

Three others died in Madison, Tennessee.

In a statement, Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts said: "This is devastating news and our hearts are broken for the families of those who lost loved ones. "

"The City stands ready to help them in their time of grief," he said.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts also declared a state of emergency following the incident.

"In accordance with Section 1-1204 of the Official City Code, and in light of the natural disaster occurring today, I am declaring the City of Clarksville to be under a State of Emergency. In furtherance of the State of Emergency, I find it is necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of the community to place the City under a Curfew for tonight (12/9) and tomorrow night (12/10) beginning at 9 p.m," the Mayor said.

Confirming the deaths of three more people due to extreme weather, Nashville Office of Emergency Management said on X: "We have teams assessing damage and looking for patients. Unfortunately, we can confirm there are 3 Fatalities as a result of the severe weather on Nesbitt Lane."
