Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Development and Planning, the Development and Planning Officer works in collaboration with the Senior Development and Planning Manager to provide targeted support to ICAP’s Planning and Development (P&D) team as well as cross-cutting support to the Strategies and Partnership (S&P) Unit in which the P&D team sits. The role will support the planning and implementation of ICAP’s grant management and the diversification and expansion of funding opportunities as well as provide broader, unit-wide support as needed.
Responsibilities
New Business (30%)
• Monitors new funding opportunities and synthesizes information from external list-serves, dashboards, subscriptions, and donor databases
• Develops succinct summaries of solicitations and carefully tracks the status of opportunities in the pre-bid phase
• Supports efforts to diversify funding and partnership opportunities including conducting targeted research on funders, opportunities, and potential partners; creating summaries, databases, presentations, etc.; synthesizing and analyzing content and providing recommendations
• Contributes to existing and forthcoming fundraising campaigns
Proposal Development and Post-proposal Management (50%)
• Working with the Senior Development and Planning Manager, supports the proposal development process in response to both competitive and non-competitive grant opportunities from proposal kick-off through post-submission debrief
• Guides cross-functional teams of technical experts and in-country staff to develop responses to funding opportunities
• Works within ICAP’s online project management system to track tasks and follow up on actions to ensure timely completion of deadline-driven tasks and outcomes
• Contributes to the development and/or adaptation of institutional capacity statements, past performance references, organizational charts, skills matrices, and other key proposal-related supporting documentation
Knowledge Management (5%)
• Serves as the knowledge management focal point for the P&D sub-unit and specific proposal teams as requested
• Contributes to the planning and implementation of special projects and performs other related duties as assigned
Cross-cutting Unit Support (15%)
• Supports processes for the recruitment and administrative management of high-quality proposal consultants
• As needed, provides over-arching support to the Strategy and Partnerships Unit and targeted support to its additional sub-units: Award Management and Communications
Minimum Qualification
• Bachelors Degree required or combination of education, training or experience
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in the area of global health, development and/or international project planning and management
• Experience with international health and/or development
• Demonstrated hands-on experience responding to funding solicitations from USG and non-USG entities
• Strong attention to detail crucial
• Strong, professional writing skilled required
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in relevant field or comparable professional experience preferred
