INTRODUCTION

EMERGENCY is an international non-governmental organization, established in 1994 to provide free, high-quality medical and surgical care to victims of war, landmines and poverty, alongside promoting a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights. EMERGENCY has treated over 11 million patients since its inception. The organization is currently active in Afghanistan, Iraq, Italy, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Uganda. EMERGENCY operates based on the premise that access to high-quality healthcare is a fundamental human right. The Salam Centre for Cardiac Surgery, in Khartoum, Soba Hilla, offers high quality and free of charge surgical care to children and adults suffering from acquired or congenital heart diseases.

Reporting to: Country HR Manager

Scope of the position:

The HR Officer, working under the supervision of the HR Manager and working closely with the Administration Team, contributes to the Staff Management and to all the HR Processes.

Tasks and responsabilities:

HR Officer’s tasks and responsibilities include - but are not limited to - the following areas:

• Assisting the HR Manager during training sessions and interviews facilitating the communication and translating from Arabic to English;
• Taking part with the HR Manager and/or the HR Manager Assistant to the running of HR Processes (such as Onboarding, Recruiting, Conflicts resolutions management);
• Assisting and cooperating with all the Department Responsible in all staff issues and needs;
• Keeping the HR Manager up to date on any staff issues;
• Preparing staff contracts and monitoring contract’s expiration and renewal;
• Monitoring resignations and organizing exit interviews with HR Manager if needed;
• Updating HR Database;
• Supporting the HR Manager Assistant with salary payment activities, absence monitoring file, HR processes management or other activities according to the needs and the assigned training plan;
• Archiving documentation according to EMR guidelines and ensuring that all staff documentation is in order.

Required Skills

The role requires good communication skills, the ability to manage different priorities and stressful situations and a high level of professional integrity.

Previous experience in personnel administration is essential.

An upper intermediate knowledge of English Language as well as IT Skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access Database) are required.
