ICC is currently looking for the Head of Global Engagement to increase ICC’s impact by securing policy changes through designing and driving effective government and institutional relations strategies.

We also provide the world’s premier private global dispute resolution services, leveraging ICC’s unique independence, integrity and expertise.

We are currently looking for the Head of Global Engagement, aiming to generate opportunities for ICC to influence stakeholders in the international community and increase ICC’s impact by securing policy changes through designing and driving effective government and institutional relations strategies.

This position is located in Paris, in the Office of the Secretary General and reports to the Chief of Staff.

The role

Advise and support the Secretary General on policy advocacy and government and institutional relations.

• Advise, brief and support the Secretary General on international policy, political strategy and government and institutional relations, and coordinate any follow-up action.
• Proactively identify, secure and filter strategic opportunities for the Secretary General to meet with ministers, senior policymakers, and heads of international and regional economic institutions, in close coordination with the Chief of Staff.
• Craft effective messages for the Secretary General – including briefings, talking points and speeches – in coordination with relevant policy leads and the Global Marketing and Communications department.
• Actively participate in the development of the Secretary General’s work planning to maximise external relations impact.
• Represent the Secretary-General as a “sherpa” as required.

Develop country-level and international institution engagement strategies to advance ICC’s interests.

• Design and develop country-level government relations as well as institutional relations strategies to drive ICC’s key policy priorities and enhance ICC’s reputation in the global policymaking community.
• Set direction and work with national committees, chambers and influential stakeholders in ICC’s network to design country-level government relations strategies.

Lead execution of government and international institutional advocacy efforts, coordinating across all relevant parts of ICC.

• Provide leadership to national committees, chambers, experts and others in the ICC network to encourage effective local government relations efforts.
• Lead a broad range of ICC staff and ICC national committee and chamber leaders in the execution of government relations efforts.
• Build and manage a broad network of high-level contacts in international organisations and governments, including the diplomatic community in Paris.
• Maintain effective relationships with other ICC departments as well as internal stakeholders (national committees, chambers, experts).
• Build the capacity of the ICC network (including national committees and chambers) to run effective local government relations and policy campaigns, including by providing background and briefing materials.

Maintain deep expertise and provide thought leadership.

• Maintain deep expertise in international economic policy matters of most strategic interest to ICC, including trade and investment.
• Write opinion pieces on select priority policy issues that can be adapted for local use and syndicated across the ICC network.
• Represent ICC to internal and external stakeholders, including in international fora and with government policymakers.

Requirements

• Postgraduate degree in public relations, politics, international relations, or in a related subject
• Minimum 5 years of experience in diplomacy or public relations, with a focus on engagement activities, in an international environment
• Proven experience in advising top level management
• Very good drafting skills in English, and ability to write impactful speeches and papers
• Excellent soft skills – including communications, trust building, cross-cultural sensitivity, and persuasiveness – and ability to interact effectively and influence C-level officials
• Effective public speaking skills, and ability to develop and deliver high quality, relevant, and timely presentations
• Proven organisational and time management skills
• Problem solving approach
• Team spirit, and collaborative approach towards ICC departments and external network
• Results and service-oriented attitude
• Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
