Our regional work is carried out of our main office in Bangkok and we have offices in seven countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Viet Nam.

RECOFTC is inviting applications for the position of Editorial and Publishing Officer. The successful candidate will be based at the RECOFTC Main Office in Bangkok, Thailand. The contract duration is for 24 months, with a possibility of extension subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Specific tasks and duties

The Editorial and Publishing Officer at RECOFTC is a member of the Knowledge Management and Strategic Communication (KMSC) unit, and responsible for implementing editorial and publishing plan and activities under the supervision of the Communication and Engagement Manager.
The role involves developing editorial plans and delivering high-quality content for effective communication and knowledge-sharing. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the incumbent provides guidance to writers, editors and designers while actively defining content objectives, and ensuring brand consistency. Keeping up with trends and emerging technologies, the Editorial and Publishing officer will help drive engagement, foster thought leadership, and enhance the organization’s overall reputation.

Specific tasks and duties include:

• Plan, develop and implement a content strategy for RECOFTC
• Write, edit, and produce knowledge management and communication products to support branding, resource mobilization, knowledge sharing, and learning initiatives
• Support RECOFTC’s strategy of increasing awareness among community forest stakeholders through public engagement, evidence generation, and storytelling
• Collaborate with the KMSC team, project and program managers and country teams to create a unified annual editorial and publication calendar for RECOFTC
• Develop editorial style guides and ensure consistency of all communication products with RECOFTC’s brand and visual identity
• Organize and manage the editorial calendar, coordinating with various teams to ensure timely publication of content
• Establish effective editorial and content development systems, including pipeline, workflow, standards, and metrics
• Coordinate with programs and projects to support editorial and publication requirements
• Provide technical and editorial support to RECOFTC staff in preparing and editing communication materials
• Collaborate with editorial and production teams and maintain rosters of external service providers for writing, editing, proofreading, translation, audio-visual production, printing, and related services
• Coordinate and oversee the production process, including layout, design, and printing of publications
• Customize communication assets for different distribution channels to maximize reach and engagement with the target audience
• Work closely with country communication officers to facilitate the translation of content into different languages as needed.
• Monitor and analyze content performance using analytics tools to gain insights for improvement.
• Facilitate KMSC reporting for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning related to content and communication products.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Communication and Engagement Manager, and the Unit Director.

Qualifications and experience

The Editorial and Publishing Officer will have the following essential qualifications and experience:

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in communication, journalism or related fields with a minimum of 7 years’ progressively responsible experience in publication, content creation and editorial processes
• Outstanding writer and editor of all forms of content
• Experience in drafting editorial guidelines and managing editorial flow
• Strong ability to repurpose content for various channels
• Strong organization and coordination skills
• Experience in creating and editing a vast array of communication materials from print to audio-visual
• Familiarity in formatting Microsoft Word documents and other Microsoft applications and design programs
• Ability to manage feedback from multiple parties and deal with fast changing priorities
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Willing to be based in Bangkok

Desirable

• Previous work experience in international organizations in the Asia-Pacific region
• Ability to communicate in one or more languages of RECOFTC’s focal countries
• (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Viet Nam)
• Knowledge of forestry, natural resources management, international development, gender equity and other themes related to RECOFTC’s mission
• Knowledge of content development and management systems
