This position will be located in our Brussels Office.

We are looking for a new colleague to join the Sustainable Mobility team with the following experience, skills and character:

• Advanced understanding of and practical experience with innovative approaches to sustainable urban mobility planning, sustainable modes of transport, integrated mobility planning, in the context of working with local governments and other local mobility agents;
• At least 7 years of professional experience working in a project-based environment, ideally for and with local governments or other urban actors;
• Proven expertise in project acquisition, development, and coordination, and in managing larger European projects involving multiple partners;
• Experience in developing and implementing interactive training and capacity building activities (particularly for and with local governments), including visualisation and facilitation;
• Confident communication, interaction and collaboration with partners ranging from grassroots organisations to ministries;
• Experience in advocacy and policy processes in the European context;
• Team player with competence in conflict resolution, pro-active working style, ability to work self-organised within a complex working environment;
• Proficient in English and at least one other European language, spoken and written; more languages are an asset;
• Curious, creative, collaborative, while able to work independently and stay grounded in a dynamic, sometimes fast-paced, international environment.

Your position will include the following main tasks:

• Strong role in the strategic and conceptual development of the sustainable mobility area, approaches and instruments, including project and service development, strategic communication and liaison with relevant (funding and policy) organisations and partners - with an emphasis on Europe;
• Event organisation and facilitation (virtual, hybrid and in-person), including trainings, interactive workshops, international project meetings, and conferences;
• Researching and drafting publications targeted to urban practitioners, including reports, briefs, case studies and news articles;
• Project management, including communication with project partners and funders, reporting and general administrative tasks;
• Contributing to project acquisition efforts, including concept development and project design, writing, and budgeting.

We offer you the following conditions:

• Initial 24 months contract with high potential for extension;
• Gross salary according to ICLEI’s salary grid (indicative: EUR 64.800 – 66.000 per annum);
• Place of work: Brussels/Belgium;
• 40h working week with flexible working time and the possibility to work up to 50% remote;
• 6 weeks of paid leave per annum;
• Working language is English;
• Occasional travel within Europe is foreseen.
