BACKGROUND:

Women Now for Development is a feminist, women-lead non-governmental organization dedicated to deepening and strengthening women’s role in Syrian and Lebanese communities by enhancing their social, economic and cultural participation. Women Now was established in June 2012 by in response to the conflict in Syria and ensuing humanitarian crisis. Today, we implement programmes in four Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS): two in Syria and two in Bekaa, Lebanon, reaching thousands of beneficiaries annually. We work in four integrated programmatic areas:

• Protection - Psychosocial support,
• Empowerment - Education and Vocational Skills training,
• Participation - Leadership training and Rights Awareness
• Advocacy and Campaigning - at the local and international level.

At Women Now we work from the ground up, to empower ourselves, and the community around us in order to bring about significant, long-term change.

Main Responsibilities:

• Support CM in Developing Women Now’s country strategy in Turkey and N.W Syria in cooperation with other executive Management teams.
• Supervise the overall implementation of the EarthQuake emergency response and development.
• Leading on the EarthQuake emergency implementation (project coordinator, MEAL staff, finance team and Safety and security staff.
• Leading on The follow up of the EarthQuake emergency response in regards to grants reporting and partners relations.
• Support the Country manager with overall responsibility for program development, implementation, and management.
• Support CM in implementing Safety & security policies, plans, evacuation plans updates,This would be aligned with active communication with donors regarding security updates.
• Provide technical support to the executive team and ensure all programs are completed within time, on budget, achieved their objectives and are compliant with donor and internal organizational regulations.

Proposals Development and Grants management:

• Support CM and executive team management of potential partner relationships.
• Oversee grants and completion of regular reports according to the reporting timelines.
• Co-lead in planning, designing and development of proposals with the CM and relevant departments taking into account the changing needs during the EQ response period.
• Ensure program compliance with donor policies and regulations in coordination with procurement and the Financial department.
• Co-lead the EQ MEAL team to ensure that all activities are inline with the organizational strategy and values, and to determine action needed to improve/adjust EQ response plan.

Representation :

• Co- Representative Women Now for development in meetings and conferences with donors, INGO’s, NGO's, local partners and governmental authorities.
• Act as Country Manager in absence.
• Reinforce of feminist leadership principles in the work environment and culture within the organization ; including strengthening team’s collaboration, problem solving, communication and the promotion of feminist knowledge in the team.

Qualifications,

• Bachelor’s degree in project management, gender studies/women’s rights, development, human rights, political science, or another relevant subject (or equivalent experience).

Knowledge and Experience

• 5+ years’ experience working in either Rights-based NGOs, or Humanitarian NGOs
• Strong experience of managing a team, including experience of remote management
• Commitment to advancing feminist values through working with communities rather than against them. Experience of working for/within feminist organizations/movements/campaigns.
• Knowledge/experience of programmatic areas: Protection, Adult Education, Vocational Training, and Economic Empowerment/Livelihoods, Women’s Political Participation
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection, accountability to affected populations, the Core Humanitarian Standard and other international standards

• Strategic thinking and forward planning
• Excellent problem-solving skills: the ability to anticipate, pre-empt and solve problems (risk mitigation)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to build and maintain professional and positive relations with: supervisees, other members of senior management, board members, donors and implementing staff

Language Skills:

• Fluency in English , Arabic is a must and Turkish is a plus.

Personal Qualities:

• Team-player – able to consider differing viewpoints and perspectives and weigh them professionally without personal bias; supportive of colleagues’ well-being
• Independent, able to develop and learn with minimal supervision
• Analytical, thorough and attentive to detail
