These are your responsibilities

Core Purpose

Act in the role of a Human Resources Officer/Analyst •Provides dedicated HR Services in the areas of recruitment, entitlement administration or learning and development. •Advises managers on the interpretation/application of human resource policies and procedures •Assesses effectiveness/utility of current human resource policies/procedures, recommend changes to improve alignment with business needs.

Main Tasks

• Enforce HR policies, procedures and standards, compliant with in-country regulations and CBM standards. Initiate and lead reviews as necessary to ensure clarity, effectiveness and efficiency, in consultation with Country office staff and management.
• Facilitate recruitment process right from receiving recruitment requests, preparing advertisements, the first screening of applications, coordinating interviews with panelists, and conducting background checks, and onboarding and induction programmes, in line with CBM guidelines and expectations.
• Ensuring all staffs have valid employment contracts and up-to-date job descriptions.
• Handle visa applications as required, and support administrative and logistical aspects of expatriate employee’s assignments, such as arranging house leases, security, vehicle, etc.
• Advise on pay and other remuneration issues, including salary and benefits reviews;
• Administer payroll and maintain employee records;
• Interpret and advise on employment law;
• Manage HR and personnel files to ensure data is accurate and up-to-date. These shall include both physical and in electronic databases.
• Provide timely and consistent data for the preparation and dissemination of CO reports
• Guide the management of grievances and disciplinary processes as required
• Monitor absences such as holidays or travel and coordinate actions to ensure the staff absence has been adequately recorded
• Oversee employee learning and development activities focusing on both individual performance targets and relevant group training and sensitization sessions.
• Oversee the effective implementation of the performance management process, provide support to line managers and staff manage performance related challenges Manage employee exit procedures.

Other

• Provide secretarial duties, including handling official correspondence with authorities, business registrations, etc;
• Provide support to the Country Director specific to the operational requirements of his/her position, such as schedule management, minute taking, drafting letters, memos and report writing
• Receives incoming communication on behalf of senior staff, review contents, and distributes to appropriate staff.
• Actively participate as a member of the Senior Management Team in the Country Office.
• Participate and actively contribute to learning platforms in the region and at the international level within CBM upon request, and make recommendations for enhancements to relevant policies and procedures to create operational efficiencies.
• Comply with all safety and health procedures and requirements at CBM and, at all times ensure your own safety and health and that of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at CBM.
• Carry out role-specific responsibility to safeguard children and adults at risk (as guided by
• CBM’s respective policies) in programmes and enforce this with any colleagues and partners.
• Ensure that all activities conducted within the scope of work or as an employee with CBM comply with the IT and data protection principles.

These are your qualifications

• University degree qualifications in human resource management or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ experience within a human resources environment, preferably with an INGO
• Ability to analyse, interpret and explain employment law
• Sound business awareness and management skills
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to understand detailed information
• Excellent interpersonal skills, maturity, and ability to relate effectively to a diverse range of people
• Strong analytical, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills as well as multi-task and meets deadlines with minimal supervision
• Prior experience in supporting Country Director and Senior management is desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Amharic.
• Strong integrity and approachability
• Ability to compile and interpret statistical data and communicate it in a professional and understandable manner
• Cross-cultural awareness and understanding of work issues
• Ability to work with initiative, autonomously and as part of a team
• Ability and willingness to travel as required
• Willingness to commit and adhere to CBM mandate, mission, vision and values
