As part of its initial outreach across the GCC, IHRB is currently recruiting a senior advisor over a three-month period from May to July 2023, (depending on the starting date and availability) to support its Gulf Sustain initiative’s outreach, strategic positioning, and stakeholder engagement in Saudi Arabia. The advisor will work closely with the Head of Gulf Programme, Gulf Regional Manager, and IHRB’s Deputy CEO, as well as with strategic partners of the programme.

In 2022, IHRB launched Gulf Sustain, an initiative aiming to advance worker welfare in the GCC by centering workers’ rights as an enabler of the green transition. Gulf Sustain is the result of a feasibility assessment conducted between 2020-2022 which examined the viability of a regional platform to promote responsible business and advance workers’ rights across the GCC. Gulf Sustain aims to develop knowledge, drive dialogue, and foster collaboration to promote alignment between policy agendas on worker welfare and climate action. The initiative’s aspiration and approach are to build leverage and influence decision-making through collective action.

The Saudi Arabia Advisor will:

Map out key partners, advise on outreach strategy and help expand Gulf Sustain’s network on the ground.

Help position the initiative with national and international stakeholders, including Government, private sector, academia and CSOs.

Contribute to the development of the initiative’s strategic plan for Saudi Arabia.

This role requires substantial knowledge of the national and regional policy and advocacy landscape, as well as a high degree of diplomacy, political awareness, and a strong track record of successful stakeholder engagement, including a solid network of contacts on the ground.
