The International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) is an intergovernmental organization with a global constituency as well as a post-secondary educational institution, headquartered in Laxenburg/Vienna. It is the only international organization with a mandate focused solely on fighting corruption through education, research, cooperation, and technical assistance delivery.

IACA strives to complement the UN’s work in the field of sustainable development, incl. through project implementation and provision of technical assistance, and to facilitate the implementation of the UN Convention Against Corruption. Remuneration

As an international civil servant, the incumbent will be entitled to an all-inclusive annual salary of 73,771 EUR. JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities

Within IACA’s organizational structure, the Advocacy and Communication Officer has planning duties in the development and implementation of advocacy and communication as well as marketing strategies. In addition to that, the incumbent supports all sorts of language and


editorial functions by preparing and assisting in the preparation of a range of written materials. To this end, job holder coordinates and cooperates with team members and contributes to the proper workflow, results, and functioning within the team. The Advocacy and Communication Officer reports directly to the Head of Strategic Partnerships Department and is under the overall supervision of the Dean and Executive Secretary of IACA.

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

Summary of key functions:

• Provide advice and support to IACA advocacy and assist with developing campaigns;
• Build communications partnerships and media alliances;
• Develop and maintain online outreach and produce information materials for public outreach;
• Liaise closely across IACA departments;
• Manage IACA’s media/press relations.

Provide advice and support to IACA advocacy and promotional campaigns:

• Plan and implement communications components of IACA advocacy and promotional campaigns;
• Provide inputs to advocacy activities and events conceptualized and organized with a view to reaching wider audiences; to that end, develop, compile, and provide concepts and relevant materials.

Build communications partnerships and media alliances:

• Identify and develop new communications partnerships and media alliances to enhance the visibility and cement IACA as a thought-leader; manage and nurture existing partnerships;
• Identify innovative opportunities and new communications tools and platforms which can serve to highlight the work of IACA;
• Develop an inclusive IACA’s Communications Strategy. In collaboration with other departments, coordinate and monitor the implementation process of the Strategy;
• Perform an editorial/proofreading function within the organization, including providing reviews of outgoing documents, and official communications.
• Update the organization’s Style Guide.

Develop and maintain online outreach and produce information materials for public outreach:

• Manage and provide inputs to IACA website and social media accounts in line with the relevant policy guidelines;
• Draft publications, brochures, fact sheets, and impact stories to inform media and general public on the work of IACA;
• Coordinating any necessary procurement procedures for external service providers for video content to produce relevant materials on IACA’s work (if required).

Liaise closely with IACA colleagues and external partners:

• Coordinate the development of IACA advocacy and communications materials, e.g. website content, reports, photographs, video productions etc. to highlight IACA’s initiatives and ensure visibility at the international and regional level;
• Liaise with Communications Officers from UN entities and other international organizations; to that end, represent IACA on the Communications Groups of the UN and other international organizations;
• Support the preparation of documents and records of various IACA bodies, conference reports, and assists senior management in the drafting of institutional papers as requested.

Manage IACA media/press relations:

• Identify opportunities and organize press conferences;
• Facilitate interviews of the Dean and Executive Secretary of IACA with various media outlets;
• Draft press releases;
• Maintain and expand contacts with global and regional media; in this connection, identify the relevant topics, background information, news-related developments, and coverage of interest;
• Provide talking points and other materials as needed to senior staff; respond to media inquiries quickly and effectively.

Occasional work on other tasks, not directly related to the appointment, but where relevant work experience and skills are an asset and/or the immediate shortage of personnel capabilities requires so.

The?incumbent’s?place of employment is at the IACA campus, in a multinational environment.?The incumbent?may also be sent to IACA’s other offices or to those of partners, contractors, or other third parties in Austria or abroad?and?on official missions, as work requires, and thus, must hold valid?international travel documents.?The incumbent?actively contributes to the development and maintenance of the Academy’s distinctive character as a centre of excellence in the field of anti-corruption training and education.??

Recruitment Qualifications:

Education

• Advanced degree (Master´s Degree or equivalent) in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, social sciences or related fields is required.
• A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in communications, particularly at the international level, including experience in media relations, with proven record of successfully developed and implemented communication strategies/advocacy campaigns/marketing plans, working with appropriate tools and communications technologies, is required;
• Outstanding oral and written communication and editing skills, with proven ability to meet tight deadlines is required;
• Proficiency in managing social media accounts, speechwriting, and written external communication is required;
• A proven track record of drafting engaging and compelling written content ranging from social media posts to long-form articles for both specialist and general readers is required;
• Experience in online outreach and multimedia is required;
• Experience working in an international organization or large development agency is an asset;
• Experience and familiarity with publication production and branding/marketing is an asset;
• Familiarity with the 2030 Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals and/or anti-corruption issues is an asset;
• Familiarity with the UN system is an asset;
• Familiarity with diplomatic language and style is an asset.

Language requirements

• Fluency in English (written and oral) – native speaker or full proficiency;
• Knowledge of one additional UN language and/or German is an asset.
