Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, nonprofit international broadcasting corporation that broadcasts and publishes news, information, and commentary to Asian countries whose governments prohibit access to a free press. The Digital Media Asset Management Lead’s primary responsibilities are facilitating the modernization of RFA’s Digital Asset Management (DAM) system - including workflow, archiving, and ingest of new content; overseeing metadata standards for RFA’s editorial teams and overseeing company-wide cataloging and retrieval of digital media assets.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the inventory of current media assets and establishing metadata standards and controlled vocabularies.
• Building and supervising RFA’s DAM team and establishing consistent workflows across Editorial departments.
• Working with editorial teams and the Technical Operations Division to ensure the DAM system facilitates efficient content production and cataloging
• Establishing metadata standards and ensuring they are implemented consistently across all content systems.
• Facilitating content retrieval for use in news production. Assisting producers and others with requests for media files for their project needs.
• Utilizing databases and the internet to organize and confirm the accuracy of metadata
• Ingesting media into digital systems and cataloging video, audio, text, and photo assets.
• Researching video, audio, and other assets as needed using in-house and external resources.
• Evaluating audio and video for archiving and rights issues and maintaining quality control of archiving operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of professional library experience working with digital asset management systems. A Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library Science and Information Systems (MLIS) is strongly preferred.
• Chinese, Korean, and/or other RFA target language abilities and experience with multilingual cataloging are strongly preferred.
• Experience in a multimedia news environment is strongly preferred.
• Ability and readiness to learn new systems and technology.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment.
• Prior media production experience is a plus.
• Interest in Asian history, society, current events, and news is also a plus.
• Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace applications.
• Able to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
