About us:

Founded in 1992, Equality Now fights for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women and girls around the world through legal advocacy. Working with grassroots women’s and human rights organizations and individual activists, Equality Now documents violence and discrimination against women and mobilizes national and international action to support efforts to stop these abuses. The organization’s work is focused on four main program areas: Legal Equality, End Sexual Violence, End Harmful Practices, and End Sex Trafficking. With presence in the US, UK, Lebanon, Kenya, India, Georgia, Equality Now has a staff of 48 and is governed by a 10-member US Board of Directors, a 5-member UK Trustees group and a 6-member Africa Board. The organization has an ambitious 2017-2021 strategic plan which has already resulted in enhanced presence and work in MENA, Eurasia, and LAC regions. The organization will be embarking on creating its next strategic plan (2022-2026) in 2021. Current priorities include expanding programs in MENA, the Americas, and Eurasia as well as organizational capacity building. The 2022 budget is $11.5 million.

Position Overview:

The Program Assistant Manager is the first port of call for external enquiries to Equality Now. The role is responsible for assisting the Head of Office and UK and Europe employees and contractors with administrative support, travel and conference needs, ensuring access to adequate channels within the organization. In addition, this role will assist with the organisation’s multilingual outreach as well as programme and subgranting areas.

It is a part time role for 2-3 days a week for 3 months with possibility to be renewed.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:

• Coordinating professional translations and proofreading in french/russian; managing relationships with professional translators and agencies; occasional translation into french/russian; assistance with proofreading and translation for the equality now website
• Making travel and accommodation bookings; assisting with expense reporting and monitoring
• Being the first port of call for enquiries to equality now; answering telephone and postal queries as well as monitoring ukinfo@equalitynow.org email address. Picking up mail from equality now’s po box.
• Coordinating the availability of adequate co-working memberships and the booking of co-working spaces. Manager relationship with spaces / regus relationship manager and space’s it helpdesk for future growth.
• Assisting in organisation of meetings, conferences and events, liaison with local groups/hotels as need be
• Managing the filing and accessing of remotely filed documents (LoveSpace)

All in connection with the design, development and implementation of strategies to support the international research, campaigning and fundraising efforts of the Europe and Eurasia hub and to advance grassroots activism for the rights of women and girls around the world.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of successful experience in office management and administration roles, preferably in an international organization
• Language skills, particularly French or/and Russian is a must
• Advanced MS Package
• Results-oriented, able to set priorities, strong attention to detail and highly organized
• Ability to continuously engage and provide support to dispersed staff
• ability to work effectively and respectfully in a fast-paced environment with diverse co-workers in a relatively small organization and with colleagues internationally
• Experience working with diverse communities, ideally internationally, across race, class, ethnic, political and geographic boundaries
• Ability to thrive when working under deadlines; strong project, time and budget management skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing attention to detail
