Bangladesh: 20 die with Covid-19 within a day, 2,273 new cases registered

Dhaka: In the last 24 hours, 20 more people have died with coronavirus in Bangladesh, taking the death toll to 6,544.

At the same time, 2,273 people were newly identified. So far, 4,58,711 people have been identified in the country, an official press release notified.

In the last 24 hours, 2,223 people have recovered from the disease, taking the toll to 3,73,676.

Coronavirus tests are currently being conducted in 118 laboratories in the country.

In the last 24 hours, 15,922 samples have been collected and 16,378 have been tested.

So far, a total of 27,29,580 samples have been tested in the country.

In the last 24 hours, the detection rate is 13.88 percent, while the overall detection rate is 16.81 percent.

The recovery rate is 81.46 percent and the death rate is 1.43 percent in the last 24 hours.

According to the Department of Health, 17 of the 20 deceased in the last 24 hours were men and three were women.

So far 5,024 men have died, and 1,520 women; Percentage wise, 76.77 percent of males have died while 23.23 percent are females.

Among the dead, 10 were from Dhaka division, three each from Chittagong and Barisal divisions, two from Khulna division and one each from Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
