Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance, the Finance Associate will play a key role in the increasingly complex financial management of a $10M (and growing) international nonprofit scaling its impact around the world. We are seeking someone who will energetically take on finance responsibilities as our organization grows.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for a hands-on finance professional to make an impact in a mission-driven organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized and autonomous with exceptional care for accuracy and attention to detail. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which can be based in MiracleFeet’s Chapel Hill, NC office or anywhere in the US.

Essential Functions

• Process invoices for payment include verifying, coding, collecting supporting documents, collecting W-9’s and submitting for payment.
• Collaborate with the Finance and Administrative Coordinator to accurately record all receivables in the accounting system, including checks and EFTs.
• Collaborate with the Finance and Administrative Coordinator to accurately record all credit card transactions in the accounting system and ensure proper supporting documentation.
• Support Finance Officer and Associate Director of Finance in preparation of annual financial statements, audit and Form 990 schedules.
• Support Finance Officer in preparing tax records, including quarterly sales tax refunds, 1099s, FBAR (Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts)
• Support Finance Officer with month-end activities as needed.
• Maintain financial systems that ensure data integrity and compliance with GAAP standards and follow internal controls.
• Troubleshoot with vendors and service providers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1-3 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience. Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP

Preferred Qualifications

• Nonprofit accounting experience
• Experience with Sage accounting software
• Advanced knowledge of Excel

• Highly organized with excellent time-management, prioritization, analytical, and reasoning skills
• Meticulous attention to accuracy and detail
• Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, specifically managing deliverables and meeting deadlines
• Personal qualities of integrity and credibility and sensitivity in dealing with confidential issues

Salary/Benefits

• Salary range $45,000-$55,000
