Tech executives from Google, Netflix, and OpenAI will be hosting a fundraiser for Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington DC on August 27, media reports said.
This is a hint to a shift in trend with Silicon Valley previously seen mostly backing former President Donald Trump.
The US is slowly gearing up for the Presidential polls later this year and Kamala Harris' name emerged after President Joe Biden quit the race for the top post last month.
The August 27 reception will feature special guests Josh Hsu, who had worked as Harris's chief legal adviser in the White House, and Rohini Kosoglu, who was a domestic policy advisor to the vice president, reported Business Insider.
A $500 donation is the cost of admission, though tickets range up to $6,600, the news portal reported.
The tech-savvy hosting committee includes executives at Google, Netflix, and OpenAI who work in policy roles, as well as high-ranking employees of JPMorgan, McKinsey & Company, and Omidyar Network, a foundation and impact investing fund founded by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, reported Business Insider.
On the other hand, Republican nominee Donald Trump has received support from tech entrepreneurs Elon Musk of SpaceX and Tesla, Peter Thiel, the co-founder of Palantir, the Winklevoss twins, John Paulson, and others.
