Ottawa: Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau is all set to become the Canadian Prime Minister for the second term but will lead a minority government as the results of the General Elections came out on Monday, media reports said.

The main battle in Canada was between Trudeau and Conservative leader Andrew Scheer.

Following the win, Trudeau tweeted, "Thank you, Canada, for putting your trust in our team and for having faith in us to move this country in the right direction. Regardless of how you cast your vote, our team will work hard for all Canadians."

Health care, climate crisis and cost of living were the main issues in the elections, reports said.

The Liberal Party of Canada has won in 158 districts in the national election, with at least 170 having been required for a majority government, preliminary data from the Commissioner of Canada Elections shows.

With preliminary polling data from all 338 electoral districts processed, the Liberal Party has 33.6 per cent of the votes, while the Conservative Party of Canada has 34.1 per cent.

The Conservative Party has secured victory in 119 districts.
