A leading non-profit renewable energy membership association is seeking a highly motivated data-driven marketing specialist for a major upcoming global conference and to promote the organisation’s membership services, initiatives and events.

The International Hydropower Association (IHA) represents organisations committed to the responsible and sustainable development of renewable hydropower. We build and share knowledge on hydropower’s role in addressing climate change, the clean energy transition and freshwater management. Our work involves global advocacy, research and policy initiatives and championing good practices.

If you are a creative digital marketing specialist with experience delivering engaging content and targeted email campaigns for online events, we want to hear from you. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting the World Hydropower Congress, a virtual high-level event bringing together leaders, experts and innovators from government, industry, the United Nations, finance and civil society.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will develop campaign content and data-driven communications and work closely with the Conference Manager and Membership and Communications Teams to attract event registrations and membership enquiries.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engaging and innovative targeted email marketing campaigns to drive audience engagement and registrations for the World Hydropower Congress in September 2021.
• Manage online content for the Congress website and work with IHA’s Designer, Digital Communications Officer and Conference Manager to deliver email, video and social media content to target audiences.
• Build awareness of IHA’s new values-based membership model with both current and potential members and partners, working with the Membership Team.
• Develop and enhance IHA’s CRM and email marketing systems to better segment, target and expand key audiences, in accordance with GDPR.
• Analyse and report on CRM and Google Analytics data to inform marketing communications and support search engine optimisation.
• Assist in the identification of business leads and develop marketing materials for membership, events, webinars, training and other services.
• Build productive relationships with partner organisations, stakeholders, sponsors and media partners.

Essential skills and attributes:

• Previous experience of successfully marketing an online event or global initiative.
• Excellent knowledge of best practice and digital campaign strategies across email, social media, websites and other media.
• Demonstrable experience working with CRM systems, email marketing software, Google Analytics, GDPR and website content management systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to write headlines and edit copy.
• Strong understanding of visual design and branding, laying out content using Adobe Creative Suite software.
• Excellent time management with the ability to adapt to a busy environment, managing competing deadlines.
• Strong understanding of UK data protection and GDPR.
• International awareness and ability to work across cultures.


Desirable skills and attributes:

• Preferably a graduate with a marketing qualification.
• Video editing skills.
• Experience with search engine optimisation and pay-per-click advertising.
• Experience working in a membership body or international organisation.
• Interest in climate change, energy, water and sustainable development.
