Tokyo: At least 41 people were hurt as an explosion hit Hiragishi district of Sapporo’s Toyohira Ward in Japan on Sunday, media reports said.
At least 41 people have been reported injured, with one person in critical condition, metro fire department officials told The Japan Times.
The injured people were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The exact cause of the explosion is not known so far.
“I heard a ‘bang,’ which sounded like thunder, and my condo was shaken,” a man in his 50s who lived nearby told the newspaper.
Images in the social media initially showed flames rising from the area of the explosion.
Police have sealed off the area.
