Job Description

The Ukraine and Eastern Europe Program Lead is responsible for creating and implementing PYXERA Global’s Ukraine and Eastern Europe strategic growth and programing plan in the region while also engaging partnerships across the social, private, and public sector to ensure maximum impact.

Central to this individual’s responsibilities is establishing a strategic plan with services that can be marketed to potential partners that want to provide support in the region and oversee implementation of the long-term community programming.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Develop and advance PYXERA Global’s strategy in Ukraine and Eastern Europe (70%)

• In collaboration across practice areas, develop and advance PYXERA Global’s strategy in Ukraine and Eastern Europe by building global and local partnerships and identifying and seizing opportunities to advance PYXERA Global’s impact in the region.
• Spearhead organizational responses and thought leadership addressing MSME development, private sector engagement and development and circular economy coordinating internal and external events and participating in relevant conferences and events.
• Track and shape opportunities to support the people of Ukraine – in Ukraine and neighboring countries – as they deal with the effects of the Kremlin’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
• Continually assess national and regional public and private sector donors for partnership and business opportunities and help prepare plans to capture them.
• Identify impact opportunities and organizational capabilities that are responsive to the objectives of PYXERA Global’s strategy, communicate them to relevant donors, and lead efforts to translate these opportunities into programs.
• Lead or support with strategic advice and teaming ideas; identify local experts for initiatives and proposals and develop databases of expertise.
• In collaboration with the communications team, identify high level external audiences or stakeholders (media, public officials, donors, and key influencers), map out a strategy for reaching out to them, and effectively engage with them to disseminate key messages and facilitate direct relationships between them and PYXERA Global.

2) Support across PYXERA Global and programs through operations, business development with foundations and private sector, and strategic leadership (30%)

• Support collaboration across Practices, Countries, and Departments to enable strategic growth and impact on the communities
• Work across teams and support in establishing efficient new ways of working
• If needed, support the COO on program legal compliance, procurement, complex grantmaking, and appropriate USAID mechanisms to achieve grant objectives and impact
• Provide short-term assistance for existing projects when needed
• Provide coaching and mentoring to program staff
• Support proposal budget development and provide cost solutions for both public and private sector donors
• Assist PYXERA Global in achieving annual goals aligned with the organization’s strategic framework

Requirements

While several factors will be considered in evaluating candidates for this critical, the following experience will be considered very beneficial:

• Minimum 10 years of experience managing large scale programs, developing partnerships, and business development in the private sector or with an NGO with private sector and traditional donor (USAID, World Bank, Foundation) clients
• Experience managing programs and partnerships in Ukraine and Eastern Europe
• Proven success leading strategic direction for new Business Development efforts; Ability to take initiative, launch new services/programs in an organization
• Expertise in developing and managing partnerships between the private, public, and NGO sectors
• Ability to engage and partner with key stakeholders across the organization
• Exceptional communication (written & oral), influence and negotiating skills; excellent public speaking and presentation skills
• Proven ability to lead organizational change across an organization, and to create and implement practical solutions to complex challenges
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects to successful completion
• Demonstrated commitment to D&I and a perspective on anti-racism
• Expertise in sales, pricing models, & strategies
• Experience developing and managing department/program budgets
• Demonstrated commitment to entrepreneurship, economic development, volunteerism and/or corporate social responsibility; experience with US gov’t and long-term community development work is a plus
• Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus
• OTHER: U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. employment authorization required; Able to travel internationally and/or domestically up to 20% of the time; Reside in the Washington, D.C. area (D.C., Maryland and Virginia) and commit to working in-person in our Washington, D.C. office at least twice a week
